Carpenter Canada Co. has an immediate opening for an Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) at our Toronto manufacturing plant. This position will require work on a rotating shift, with shift adjustments every 2 weeks as our plant operates on a 24 hour cycle.
This position is responsible for analyzing and planning preventive maintenance tasks, specific jobs and emergency repairs including hazard assessments and hazard control, troubleshooting, repairs and housekeeping.
The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following tasks:
- Perform preventative maintenance
- Repair machinery and equipment
- Weld and use a cutting torch, cut off saw, and machine shop equipment
- Report abnormal conditions that may affect machinery and equipment
- Fabricate and install mechanical assembly as required
- Assemble and disassemble equipment
- Prepare equipment for shipment to other locations
- Read and interpret machine diagrams and plant layout drawings
- Maintain plant fire system
- Serve on plant emergency response team
- Adjust equipment and repair/replace defective components
- Participate in continuous improvement projects to optimize equipment safety, efficiency and reliability
- Complete Work Orders according to PM schedules
- Ensure that work area is clean of debris and hazards at all times by following Value Of Order principles.
- Evaluate and report conditions that maybe unsafe or affect efficient operation of machinery, equipment and building systems.
- Operate forklift, clamp-lifts, genie boom, scissor lift and other machinery as needed
- Work in a safe manner in accordance with company's policies and OHS Act and Regulations
- Perform other related duties as assigned or require
Skills and Requirements:
- 3 - 5 years millwright experience in manufacturing plant.
- Must have Industrial Mechanic Millwright Trade Certification (433A).
- Strong working knowledge of safety regulations related to manufacturing business
- Excellent attention to details
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a team and independently in a time sensitive environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
- SAP experience is a asset
- Forklift and aerial lift certificates is an asset.
