Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled HDD Locator for underground utility projects to ensure the accurate detection and mapping of underground cables, pipes, and other utilities. This role is vital for safe excavation and construction activities, requiring a combination of technical expertise, mechanical knowledge, and experience operating heavy equipment. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of working in diverse environments to support infrastructure development and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Utilize specialized locating equipment to identify underground utilities such as electrical lines, water pipes, and gas lines.
- Interpret utility maps and blueprints to determine the precise location of underground infrastructure.
- Operate heavy machinery including excavators, backhoes, bucket trucks, and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform rigging tasks and handle hand tools and power tools necessary for utility locating and excavation support.
- Conduct low voltage testing and electrical measurements to confirm utility locations.
- Assist with excavation activities by operating equipment like bucket trucks or backhoes as needed.
- Maintain detailed records of utility locations and work performed for project documentation.
- Follow all safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation, electrical work, and excavation procedures.
Skills
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate excavators, backhoes, bucket trucks, and other heavy equipment.
- Experience with electrical systems and low voltage testing techniques.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, rigging equipment, welding tools, and safety gear.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery such as bucket trucks and perform rigging tasks safely.
- Strong understanding of underground utility systems including gas, water, electrical, and telecommunications infrastructure.
- Knowledge of safety standards related to heavy equipment operation and underground utility work.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in locating underground utilities accurately.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in various outdoor environments while maintaining safety compliance.

Pay: $31.00-$41.00 per hour
