We are looking for a Financial Controller for our client situated in the County of Grande Prairie, AB. Our client has been operating for over 10 years and have built their business around community involvement and customer service.
This position requires a commitment to producing accurate and timely financial reporting. We seek an experienced professional with an in-depth understanding of the financial reporting process and managing a small administrative team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Lead the recruitment, hiring, and training of accounting staff, ensuring all team members are well-prepared and informed.
- Cross-Training: Implement and maintain cross-training initiatives to ensure continuity in key accounting functions.
- Communication: Uphold and model professional communication standards within the team and across departments.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and present internal financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable standards.
- Financial Analysis: Provide management with detailed financial information and insights to support decision-making.
- Bookkeeping: Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities, adhering to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE).
- Bank Reconciliations: Perform and oversee regular bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are promptly addressed.
- Account Reconciliation: Conduct monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and integrity.
- Monthly Reporting: Prepare monthly financial reports for review and approval by CFO.
- Payment Processing: Oversee the preparation and processing of electronic funds transfers for bill payments, ensuring all payments are reviewed and approved appropriately.
- Loan Management: Administer and manage company loans, including intercompany loans and transactions.
- Credit Management: Handle the management of credit applications for both vendors and clients, ensuring financial due diligence.
- Tax Compliance: Prepare and file GST returns, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
- Payroll Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate payroll-related government remittances.
- IFTA Management: Oversee the management of International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) filings on a quarterly basis.
Skills & Education
- CPA designation (an asset)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a senior accounting or financial management and providing full cycle accounting
- 5 years of experience with managing staff or a team
- Good understanding of accounting systems
- High level of proficiency using Microsoft Excel and Word
- Proficiency in QuickBooks
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $80,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
