We are currently looking for an experienced and ambitious individual to join our crew. This position will be responsible for the maintenance and repairs of our drill fleet around the Island. Applicants must be a Red Seal Heavy Duty Equipment Technician and preferably have experience in the mining industry. NL Drilling & Blasting has been rapidly expanding to serve the construction and mining industries since we began in late 2022. While primarily focusing on quarry blasting our services have expanded to frequently include site drilling and controlled blasting in both residential and commercial areas. Our current fleet consists of Furukawa & Everdigm top hammer drills.
Duties include:
- Working in a challenging environment with limited supervision
- Working in our service bay located in Mount Pearl
- Making field repairs in various quarries and job sites throughout the island & Labrador.
- Inspecting and evaluating various components and determining when worn parts need to be replaced
- Troubleshooting issues with drills
- Locating part numbers in manuals.
- Reading and understanding hydraulic and wiring schematics
- Accurately and completely documenting maintenance and repairs
- Proficiency with basic computer programs
- Performing routine maintenance such as filter and oil changes as per manufacturers recommendations
- Adjusting equipment to sure it is operating efficiently
- Operating equipment to aid in diagnosing issues
- Maintaining a neat and tidy work environment
- Following all OH&S requirements
- Wearing all PPE required for given task
- Working outdoors in all types of weather
