Job Summary
Arugula is a casual dining Italian/Mediterranean restaurant specializing in authentic Neapolitan pizza. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our team as a Cook. This role involves providing exceptional food service, preparing meals, and ensuring food safety standards are maintained. The ideal candidate will have a passion for culinary arts and customer service, with a strong background in food handling and restaurant operations. Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of food items according to established recipes and standards
- Handle food safely and hygienically, adhering to all health regulations
- Assist in meal preparation, including chopping, assembling, and plating dishes
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food service area
- Support the team during busy periods by efficiently managing multiple tasks
- Ensure all food presentation meets quality standards before serving
Experience
- Previous experience in food service, restaurant, or kitchen environment preferred
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and meal assembly
- Familiarity with food safety standards and proper food handling practices
- Experience with food industry equipment such as ovens, fryers, and prep stations is advantageous
- Hands on experience with wood fired pizza oven an asset
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced settings while maintaining attention to detail
