JOB DESCRIPTION:
Functions as a clinical provider for the Vancouver location, providing appropriate and safe patient care within the scope of practice authorized by the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC (CCHPBC) and in accordance with Next Health clinical protocols.
The Naturopathic Doctor primarily supports day-to-day patient care, including patient assessments and medical clearance, IV therapy, injections, lab draws, and other clinical services within authorized ND scope. This position works collaboratively with the Lead Clinical Director, nursing staff, and the broader clinic team to maintain safe, efficient patient flow and an exceptional patient experience.
This is a clinical support role and does not include responsibility for management or supervision of clinical staff, overall clinical operations, or departmental leadership.

Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills among team members and patients. Ability to work independently within ND scope of practice while functioning effectively as part of a collaborative clinical team.
Possesses self-initiative, sound clinical judgment, professionalism, and strong time-management skills. Ability to collaborate with clinical leadership, management, patients, nurses, and other providers.
Safely administers injections and IV infusions within ND scope and demonstrates competency in patient assessment, treatment clearance, venipuncture, and recognition and management of adverse reactions.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Active, unrestricted registration in good standing with the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC (CCHPBC).
Must maintain all certifications, prescribing authority, and other requirements necessary to perform assigned duties within current CCHPBC-authorized ND scope and applicable British Columbia regulations.
Experience with IV therapy, venipuncture, injections, and patient assessment preferred.
REQUIREMENTS / HAZARDS:
Employee is at some risk for exposure to blood borne pathogens. Employee is at some risk of injury related to moving equipment. Employee will require blood borne pathogen protection and will be provided with appropriate protective equipment and training in accordance with applicable regulations. Some exposure to hazardous chemicals may occur.

EMPLOYEES SUPERVISED:
None. Works collaboratively with nursing staff and provides clinical direction and support as needed while onsite, particularly as it relates to individual patient care, IV and IM therapies, treatment clearances, and immediate clinical concerns. Overall supervision and management of nursing staff remains with the Lead Clinical Director and General Manager.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS & EXPECTATIONS:
❖ Conduct patient assessments and provide clinical clearance for treatments within ND scope and established company protocols.
❖ Perform and support IV therapy within ND scope.
❖ Perform IM injections within ND scope.
❖ Perform venipuncture and lab draws and assist with difficult IV starts when needed.
❖ Review relevant patient history, contraindications, medications, and clinical information prior to treatment.
❖ Support appropriate lab specimen handling and processing.
❖ Provide pre- and post-treatment education and instructions.
❖ Recognize and appropriately respond to adverse reactions or clinical concerns within scope, escalating to the Lead Clinical Director or appropriate medical leadership when necessary.
❖ Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation and applicable IV/medication records.
❖ Provide clinical coverage and support patient flow as needed.
STANDARD JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
❖ Clinical Responsibilities
➢ Demonstrates competency in planning and delivering safe, effective, and patient-centered care in accordance with company policies and naturopathic standards of practice.
➢ Obtains and reviews accurate health histories and relevant clinical information prior to treatment.
➢ Conducts patient assessments and determines patient eligibility and clearance for applicable Next Health treatments within ND scope and established protocols. ➢ Identifies potential contraindications, risks, or clinical concerns and escalates appropriately when additional medical review is required.
➢ Provides thorough pre- and post-treatment instructions and responds to patient clinical questions within scope.
➢ Performs IV infusions, injections, venipuncture, and lab processing within ND scope and maintains proficiency in these services.
➢ Monitors patients receiving IV therapy and other applicable treatments and responds appropriately to adverse reactions or changes in patient condition.
➢ Documents assessments, treatment clearance, services performed, patient responses, and follow-up needs accurately and in a timely manner.
➢ Prescribes or recommends only when appropriate and within CCHPBC-authorized scope and refers patients to the Lead Clinical Director, physician, or outside provider when care falls outside that scope. Clinical Team Support
➢ Works collaboratively with the Lead Clinical Director, nursing staff, and clinic team to support safe and efficient patient care.
➢ Writes patient-specific orders, including standing orders authorizing RNs to perform IV and IM therapies, where appropriate and within the ND’s scope of practice.
➢ Assists nursing staff with difficult IV starts, lab draws, or patient concerns when appropriate.
➢ Communicates clinical concerns, complications, contraindications, or significant changes in patient status to the Lead Clinical Director or appropriate medical leadership.
➢ Ensures treatment areas are appropriately prepared and necessary clinical supplies are available prior to providing care.
➢ Follows all established clinical policies, procedures, protocols, and SOPs.
➢ Supports timely patient flow and communicates delays or clinical concerns to the appropriate team member.

➢ Provides clear, professional education to patients regarding their treatment and expected experience.
➢ Answers clinical questions within scope and ensures patients understand pre- and post-treatment instructions.
➢ Maintains a welcoming, professional, and patient-centered approach throughout each interaction.
➢ Educates patients on appropriate Next Health services when clinically relevant and refers patients to the appropriate team member or Lead Clinical Director for services requiring more comprehensive consultation.
❖ Additional Duties
➢ Assists with walk-ins, same-day appointments, and clinical coverage as needed to support patient flow.
➢ Completes patient follow-up related to treatments performed or clinical questions as appropriate.
➢ Uses unscheduled clinical time productively to complete documentation, patient follow-up, treatment preparation, or other assigned clinical duties.
➢ Participates in required clinical training and maintains competency for services performed.
➢ Performs other clinical duties within ND scope as reasonably assigned.
Pay: $55.00 per hour
