On behalf of our client, Grand River Personnel is recruiting an experienced Industrial Sanitation & Forklift Operator for an Industrial in Elmira, ON.
PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT a general cleaning position.
This opportunity is ideal for candidates who have both industrial sanitation experience in a food production environment and a valid external forklift licence with practical operating experience. We are seeking someone who can confidently support plant sanitation while safely operating a propane forklift throughout the facility.
Shift: Night shift, 40-48 hours per week. End times will vary based on production requirements.
Pay Rate: $22.00 – $24.00/hr + 4% vacation pay added to each cheque weekly!
- Perform deep cleaning and sanitation of production equipment, conveyors, machinery, processing areas, and facility common areas
- Ensure all sanitation tasks are completed in accordance with GMPs, HACCP requirements, sanitation schedules, and company procedures
- Operate a propane counterbalance forklift to transport materials, remove waste, and support sanitation operations
- Remove garbage, recycling, and scrap while replenishing sanitation and paper supplies throughout the facility
- Safely handle cleaning chemicals and sanitation equipment while following all PPE and safety requirements
- Identify sanitation or maintenance concerns and communicate them proactively to support uninterrupted production
- Work independently while contributing to the overall success of the sanitation and production teams
- Minimum 1 year of industrial sanitation experience in a food manufacturing, food processing, bakery, beverage, pharmaceutical, or similar production facility
- Valid external propane forklift licence with previous hands-on operating experience (required)
- Experience working safely around food production equipment and manufacturing machinery
- Working knowledge of GMPs, SOPs, HACCP/BRC standards, and general workplace health & safety practices
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and audit-ready facility
- CSA-approved waterproof safety footwear
- Ability to work afternoon/night shifts and overtime as required
- Must consistently follow all PPE requirements and safe work practices
- Physically capable of lifting up to 25 kg and performing repetitive bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, walking, and stair climbing
- Comfortable working in wet environments while using industrial cleaning chemicals
