Summary
We are seeking a Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist to join our team on a part-time basis but it could develop into a full-time position in the future. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is interested in pursuing a career as an Animal Health Technician in the future as you will initially be focused on the reception duties but have the opportunity to assist the AHT if you show aptitude in that area. Ultimately, the position, for the right candidate, could develop into a full-time Vet Assistant position, an excellent pre-cursor to work towards becoming an Animal Health Technician.
Responsibilities
- Greet clients and their pets warmly, creating a positive first impression.
- Schedule appointments and manage the clinic's calendar effectively.
- Handle phone inquiries and provide accurate information about services.
- Maintain patient records with attention to detail.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as billing and filing.
- Coordinate with veterinary staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Support laboratory processes when necessary, leveraging laboratory experience.
- Ensure the reception area remains clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Safely and calmly restrain dogs and cats for examinations, vaccinations and procedures.
- Sterilize instruments and prepare surgical packs
- Assist veterinarians and Animal Health Technician (AHT) with procedures and treatments
- Qualifications
- Proven experience in a veterinary or pet care setting is preferred.
- Strong communication skills and a friendly demeanor.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a busy environment.
- Laboratory experience is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of veterinary software systems is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well within a team dedicated to animal health.

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
