Polar Performance Materials was founded in 2012 and produces ultra-high purity alumina (HPA) using a proprietary low-carbon process. The factory is located in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. Polar’s HPA is increasingly necessary to manufacture products used in high growth, high purity semiconductor applications. Other applications include LEDs, lithium-ion batteries, thermal management materials, and technical ceramics utilized in aerospace, medical and industrial systems.

Position Overview
The Painter will be responsible for performing painting and surface preparation work throughout the facility to maintain a safe, clean, and professional working environment. This role involves operating elevated work platforms, including scissor lifts and boom trucks, to complete painting projects at various heights. The Painter is also responsible for managing painting supplies and inventory to ensure materials are available for ongoing projects.
This is a 4-month contract position with the potential for full-time employment based on performance and business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Painting & Surface Preparation
- Perform interior and exterior painting projects as assigned.
- Prepare surfaces for painting through cleaning, sanding, patching, masking, and priming.
- Apply paint, coatings, and finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
- Ensure all painting work meets company quality standards and project requirements.
2. Equipment Operation
- Safely operate Skyjack and other elevated work platforms to complete painting work at heights.
- Conduct pre-use inspections and report any equipment concerns.
- Follow all safety procedures related to working at heights and equipment operation.
3. Inventory Management
- Monitor and maintain painting supplies, materials, and equipment inventory.
- Track paint usage and notify management when replenishment is required.
- Organize and maintain painting storage areas to ensure materials are properly stored and accessible.
4. Safety & Housekeeping
- Follow all company health and safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout all projects.
- Properly handle, store, and dispose of paint, solvents, and related materials.
5. General Facility Support
- Assist with facility improvement and maintenance projects as required.
- Support other departments with painting-related tasks and projects.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous commercial, industrial, or facility painting experience.
- Valid Skyjack (or equivalent aerial work platform) certification and experience.
- Ability to work safely at heights.
- Ability to lift and move painting materials and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Knowledge of paint application techniques, coatings, and surface preparation methods.
- Experience managing inventory and ordering supplies.
