Job Overview
Seeking overnight in-home caregiver for our elderly parents. Saturdays, Sundays or Tuesdays 9 pm to 7 am (10 hour shift). Also daytime lunch shifts (8/10 am to 3 pm) and evenings (4/6 to 9 pm). At least 3 years of caregiving experience related to high needs seniors (Parkinson and Alzheimer’s) and relevant diploma/degree.
Mom has atypical Parkinson's - non-communicative, non-mobile and very disabled. Need to spoon feed and provide toileting/diapering care. Use suction device, and mechanical ceiling and mobile lifts. We will train. Dad has early stages Alzheimer’s but is independent. Mostly helping care for mom.
Responsibilities
- Spoonfeeding pureed food and liquids
- Sponge bathing
- Administer medication
- Able to use/learn to use mechanical lift to transfer mom from bed to wheelchair/toilet
- Meal preparation (no cooking)
- Light housekeeping - laundry, and cleaning, to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
- Companionship and emotional support
- Monitor health status and report any changes or concerns to family members
- Assist with personal hygiene
- Able to use/learn to use CPAP machine
- Able to use/learn to use suction device
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of related experience preferred.
- Work experience with seniors, individuals with disabilities, or those requiring dementia care.
- Experience in medication administration and patient care
- Light lifting and maneuvering of wheelchair, some kneeling and bending down
Looking for commitment of at least one year or more. Overtime pay (1.5x) after 8 hours (same shift). Overnight shifts are not sleeping shifts.
Pay: $28.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
