Burlington Manufacturing SP Inc. is a sister company of Safety Power Inc., a leading supplier to the data centre industry. Our equipment removes nitrogen oxides, particulates and other harmful emissions most commonly for diesel engines used for backup power; end users of our systems include Amazon, Google and Microsoft. To support our extensive growth, we have just opened our sixth production facility in Burlington. We are looking for experienced Sheet Metal Workers to join our growing team!
Role Overview
Responsible for laying out, preparing, cutting, forming and installing metal material on reactors according to technical engineering drawings and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Cut coiled cladding material to required lengths.
- Form sheet cladding material into required forms and kit quantities according to technical engineering drawing specifications and safety regulations.
- Perform inspection of insulated reactor to be cladded, ensuring all components and documentation are in place, signed off, prior to commencing cladding process. Should non-conformances be detected, stop and immediately report to Team Leader / Production Manager.
- Fit, install and join cladding material to ensure a water tight seal, according to job specifications for given reactor model, ensuring all required documentation is signed off and uploaded, as required.
- Chaulk all exposed corners and seams according to job specifications for given reactor model.
- Report any starve (material shortage or lack of insulated reactors) or blocked situations to Team Leader / Production Manager.
- Work collaboratively with all team members to ensure safety and production goals are met.
- Keep work area organized and perform General housekeeping prior to end of shift.
- Promote a strong safety culture, enforcing safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all staff.
- Perform all work in a safe manner in compliance with Company specifications, including all local, provincial and federal regulations (OSHA, ESA, CSA, etc.) Immediately report unsafe conditions to Team Leader / Production Manager within the department.
- Other duties as assigned.
Technical Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 1 years of sheet metal experience in HVAC ductwork, sheet metal contractor, industrial manufacturing, fabrication environment or equivalent educational background.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications according to engineering requirements.
- Knowledge of s-cleat, cladding forming, Pittsburgh lock forming equipment, tools and process an asset.
- Ability to work within a team and independently, to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
- Detail oriented.
- Forklift and crane license an asset.
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
- Basic math and geometry proficiency are essential to ensure accurate measurements, cuts and installations.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods and tools required in various cladding processes.
Job Demands & Working Conditions
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, vibration and metal dust from welding process and insulation dust from insulation material.
- Effectively perform in a fast-paced environment, and sometimes high stress situations.
- Required to lift and handle heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to welding fumes and dust, as well as air born insulation dust and fibers, for which masks are available.
- Exposure to potential skin and respiratory irritants.
- Exposure to metal insulating studs.
- Ability to climb or balance, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and twist, and climb throughout entire shift.
- Required to wear PPE (gloves, safety glasses, safety boots, ear plugs).
- May require overtime and weekend shift work depending on production demand.

Pay: $23.00-$28.00 per hour
