Note: The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable.
Description
As a Data Platform Developer on the DEEP Sustainment team, you will play a critical role in supporting, enhancing, and maintaining our clientsenterprise GCP Data Analytics platform. Your work will directly enable and empower data analyst and AI communities by ensuring a robust, scalable, and modern data infrastructure. In this role, you will focus on system maintenance, upgrades, feature enablement, troubleshooting complex processing issues, and driving continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) enhancements. Collaborative in nature, this position works closely with the Data Operations team to streamline processes and elevate our platform capabilities.
Responsibilities

Platform Sustainment & Feature Enablement: Maintain, upgrade, and enhance the GCP Data Platform. Enable new features across key services (including BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Airflow, Cloud Storage, Dataplex, and Collibra) to support downstream AI and analytics initiatives.

Operations & Troubleshooting: Provide tier-3 support to troubleshoot and resolve data processing issues, platform bottlenecks, and system failures in a timely manner.

CI/CD & DevOps Automation: Design, build, and optimize CI/CD pipelines within GitLab to automate deployment processes, manage infrastructure as code (IaC), and streamline promotion releases.

Process Optimization: Partner closely with the Data Operations team to identify operational bottlenecks, automate repetitive tasks, and implement robust monitoring and alerting frameworks.
Data Governance & Metadata Integration: Assist in the maintenance and integration of Dataplex and Collibra to ensure high data quality, data lineage, and robust governance across the platform.

Qualifications
-
5 years of professional experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or a highly relevant cloud DevOps role.

Proven track record of supporting and maintaining enterprise-level cloud data platforms.

Experience with orchestration tools (specifically Apache Airflow / Cloud Composer) and stream/batch processing frameworks (such as Apache Beam / Dataflow).

Experience implementing or working with data governance and cataloging tools (e.g., Collibra, GCP Dataplex) is highly desirable.

Top Required Skills

Python: Strong proficiency in writing clean, efficient, and production-grade Python code for data pipelines and automation.

SQL: Advanced SQL capabilities for querying, data manipulation, and optimization within cloud data warehouses.

GitLab: Deep hands-on experience managing repositories, branching strategies, and building complex CI/CD pipelines.

GCP Technical Knowledge: Strong foundational and operational knowledge of the Google Cloud Platform ecosystem (specifically BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and IAM).

Education and Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent practical experience).
