Purpose of the Position: Join the COPE team of volunteers to help change the lives of students and individuals with disabilities by transporting dogs and puppies to attend Canines in the Classroom and Refinement Training in COPE's transport van.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Transport multiple dogs to designated locations for Canines in the Classroom and Refinement Training in Barrie using vehicle provided by COPE
- Clean COPE vehicle at self-serve car wash when needed, cost covered by COPE
- Fill van with gas, with COPE gas card, when under 1/4 tank
Qualifications:
- Driver’s license (Class G)
- Clean driving record
- One year experience of handling or owning dogs
- Minimum age 25, for insurance coverage
Commitment Expected:
- Ongoing
- Available to drive at least 2 shifts per week
- Various shifts available Mon - Fri weekly
- No driving on statutory holidays and most school holidays
- Free to take time off when advance notice is provided
Training:
- 2-hour in-person training
- At least 2 shifts of shadowing with an experienced driver
