Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Construction Controller / Senior Bookkeeper to oversee financial operations within our construction company. This role is vital for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounting processes, and supporting budgeting and financial analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in accounting software, including QuickBooks, Sage, and Xero, with a focus on accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and account reconciliation. Responsibilities
- Minimum 3 years of construction accounting experience (required)
- Advanced experience with QuickBooks (required)
- Strong knowledge of construction job costing and project accounting
- Experience developing and managing inventory systems for construction materials
- Ability to prepare project cost analyses and construction progress reports
- Thorough knowledge of payroll, payroll remittances, HST/GST filings, accounts payable,
- Accounts receivable, invoicing, and month-end/year-end financial reporting
- Strong Microsoft Excel skillsExcellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the accounting function
Qualifications
- Manage all day-to-day accounting operations
- Process payroll and statutory remittances
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Prepare customer invoices and oversee collections
- Prepare HST/GST returns and other government remittances
- Maintain accurate financial records and the general ledger
- Perform job costing and prepare project financial reports
- Develop and maintain inventory control systems
- Produce construction progress reports for management
- Assist with budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and financial planning
- Coordinate with external accountants for year-end reporting and audits
This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of our financial operations while supporting strategic decision-making through accurate reporting and analysis.
Pay: $50,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
