The Role
Access Metal Service Inc. is a specialized metal service center looking for a motivated individual to join our shop. We are a lean, tight-knit team where everyone plays a part in our success.
We are looking for someone eager to build a career in the metal industry. While experience with bandsaws or shears is a bonus, we will train the right person. We prefer to hire someone with a great attitude and a strong work ethic who is willing to learn.
Duties
- Machine Operation: Operate multiple horizontal bandsaws and a metal shear to cut mild steel, aluminum, and stainless alloys.
- Order Filling: Accurately pull and process orders from simple work orders.
- Precision & Math: Use a tape measure and basic math to ensure material is cut to a tolerance of +/- 1/16" or better, depending on required specifications.
- Material Handling: Safely operate 5,000 lb and 10,000 lb electric forklifts to handle material ranging from small pieces to 24' (and greater) lengths.
- Shipping & Receiving: Assist with loading/unloading trucks and organizing inventory to keep operations running smoothly.
- Shop Stewardship: We take pride in our space. You will participate in a 15-minute daily tidy-up and a weekly 30-minute deep clean (sweeping, organizing, wiping down equipment) every Friday.

- Back-up Driver: We have a spare flatbed truck on-site. If you have a clean G License and are willing to learn, we would appreciate the opportunity to train you as a back-up driver for local deliveries.

What You Bring
- Growth Mindset: You want to learn new skills and take on more responsibility over time.
- Technical Aptitude: Strong basic math skills are a must for measurement accuracy. Ability to use an imperial tape measure is required; you will be tested on this during the interview.
- Communication: Clear English (oral and written) to interpret work orders and communicate with the team.
- Physicality: Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Safety & Gear: You own CSA-approved steel-toed boots and black jeans (required). We provide all other necessary PPE, including gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
Preferred Assets (Not required):
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License with a clean abstract.
- Valid Counterbalance Forklift Certification.
- Working at Heights or First Aid Certification.
Schedule & Benefits
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM.
