Job Description Title: Security Guard (BST)

Reports To: Security Supervisor / Operations Manager
Location: Kelowna, BC
Wage: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour, dependent on education and experience
Start Date: Within 30 days of first interview
About the Role:
The Security Guard position is responsible for ensuring that all activities occurring on the client’s property are in accordance with client needs, as well as all Signal Security of the Okanagan policies and procedures. In addition, the Security Guard is required to address and properly document anything that may be of concern to the client or any other parties of interest.
The Security Guard is exposed to and utilizes confidential information on a daily basis. As such, confidentiality must be maintained at all times during and after cessation of employment to protect the interests of the business, clients, and relevant stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of all post orders, policies, and procedures for each respective site of assignment, coverage, or response.
- Conduct patrols, emergency response, access control, coaching, training, and mentoring.
- Complete reports accurately and within specified timeframes according to standard operating procedures.
- Always adhere to uniform standards for the respective site or assignment.
- Follow all Signal Security of the Okanagan policies, procedures, and chain of command.
- Liaise and communicate effectively with local law enforcement and emergency services.
Education, Experience & Related Requirements
- Basic Security Training (BST) Course;
- Valid British Columbia Security Worker’s License;
- Valid British Columbia Driver’s License (Class 4 or Class 5);
- Clean driver’s abstract (ICBC);
- Valid CPR & First Aid Level C (AED Certification);
- Secondary School Diploma or equivalent considered an asset;
- Minimum 1 years of security, law enforcement, military, or related experience preferred;
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and adapt to rapidly changing environments;
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills; candidates may be requested to provide IELTS (or equivalent) results;
- High degree of emotional intelligence, professionalism, and customer service skills;
Working Conditions
This position may involve sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods of time. Working conditions generally include 8- or 12-hour evening and overnight shifts but may be subject to alteration based on operational needs.
Employees may experience mental and physical stress and may be exposed to:
- Adverse weather conditions;
- High traffic or tenant volume;
- Emergency and alarm response situations;
- Medium to high threat environments;
- Limited availability of food and beverages;
- Interrupted breaks;
- Potential harassment while in uniform;
- Spontaneous shift extensions;
- Emergency situations requiring extended presence on-site
The successful candidate must be able to:
- Handle direction from multiple supervisors
- Maintain a high level of accountability
- Work effectively within a team environment
- Remain on site with short notice when required
- Operate within sophisticated security environments and systems
Position Details

Wage: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour, dependent on education and experience

Full-time Hours: 32–40 hours per week
Part-time Hours: 8-24 hours per week
