About Steer Friends
Steer Friends is a specialized day program supporting adults with developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and complex care needs. Located in Stouffville, we provide a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment where every individual is valued, respected, and supported to participate fully in their community.
Our members require a wide range of supports, including personal care, mobility assistance, feeding support, medication administration, community participation, and meaningful recreational programming. No two days are ever the same.
We are currently looking for a compassionate, energetic, and reliable Personal Support Worker to join our growing team.
What You'll Do
As a PSW at Steer Friends, you will play an important role in supporting adults with complex care needs throughout their day. Responsibilities include:
- Providing personal care support including toileting, changing, dressing, and hygiene assistance
- Assisting with transfers using ceiling lifts, Hoyer lifts, and other mobility equipment
- Supporting individuals who use wheelchairs and adaptive equipment
- Assisting with feeding, G-tube supports, and mealtime routines
- Participating in community outings and recreational activities
- Supporting members in sensory, music, art, cooking, and life enrichment programs
- Encouraging social interaction, engagement, and community inclusion
- Completing documentation and communication records accurately
- Working closely with nurses, program coordinators, and fellow support staff to provide exceptional care

Qualifications
- Personal Support Worker Certificate (required)
- Valid CPR and First Aid Certification
- Current Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and/or complex care needs is considered a strong asset
- Experience with lifts, transfers, feeding supports, and medication administration is an asset

Compensation
$22.00 - $25.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
