Position Overview
Reporting to the Electrical Superintendent, the Industrial Electrician will be responsible for providing quality operational repairs and preventative maintenance while ensuring the safe and efficient operation of mill equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect, install, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and maintain electrical equipment, including motors, generators, pumps, heavy machinery, lighting systems, environmental control systems, communication systems, and associated electrical/electronic controls.
Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
Apply electrical theory, industry standards, and applicable codes to maintenance and repair activities.
Install conduit and wiring systems, including rewiring existing equipment.
Provide PLC troubleshooting, programming, and system upgrades.
Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and technical drawings.
Troubleshoot and maintain AC/DC motors, generators, programmable controllers, and electronic control systems used in a manufacturing environment.
Diagnose and repair electrical faults involving motors, controllers, PLCs, and related equipment.
Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and cost savings.
Qualifications
Journeyman Industrial Electrician Certification with Interprovincial Red Seal endorsement.
Strong troubleshooting skills involving mechanical systems, hydraulic equipment, control circuits, motors, motor control circuits, and electrical/electronic systems.
Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and CSA standards.
Experience installing, programming, troubleshooting, and repairing PLCs, logic control systems, and adjustable frequency AC drives.
Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and PLC-5 systems is considered a strong asset.
Experience with Variable Speed Drives, preferably Control Techniques.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Previous experience in a sawmill, lumber manufacturing, or other heavy industrial environment is preferred.
Willingness to work rotating shifts.
Strong commitment to workplace safety and operational efficiency.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Strong organizational and planning skills.
