Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented General Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will operate manual machine tools, interpret engineering drawings, perform precision machining, and ensure all work meets quality and safety standards. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, accuracy, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Payrate:$31 -$34/hr
Shift :Morning
Location: Brampton
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain manual machine tools, including lathes, Bridgeport mills, and surface grinders.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to specified tolerances.
- Machine, repair, and modify components with precision and accuracy.
- Select the appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and machining methods for each job.
- Perform in-process and final quality inspections using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and gauges.
- Identify machining issues and implement practical solutions to maintain production efficiency.
- Communicate job status, technical information, and shift updates with supervisors and team members.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures, including proper lockout/tagout practices and safe handling of equipment.
- Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report equipment concerns, safety hazards, quality issues, or unusual conditions promptly.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and productivity.

Qualifications
- Experience operating manual machine tools, including lathes, Bridgeport mills, and surface grinders.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of machining practices, tolerances, and precision measurement.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
