No lesson planning. No curriculum writing. No grading papers at home.
You'll receive paid training in Sylvan's proven instructional programs and teach using personalized learning plans in a supportive small-group environment (up to a 3:1 student-to-teacher ratio). Every lesson is designed to help students succeed while allowing you to do what you do best—build confidence and foster a love of learning.
We're looking for enthusiastic educators to teach Math, Reading, and Writing to students from Kindergarten through Grade 12.
What You'll Do
Deliver Outstanding Instruction
- Teach personalized Sylvan programs in Math, Reading, and/or Writing.
- Deliver engaging instruction using Sylvan's proven curriculum and instructional technology.
- Work with small groups of students while providing individualized support.
- Motivate students through encouragement, positive reinforcement, and meaningful feedback.
- Help students master new concepts at their own pace.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate instructional records.
- Collaborate with centre leadership to ensure each student receives an exceptional learning experience.
Inspire Confidence
- Build positive relationships with students and families.
- Create an engaging, encouraging, and welcoming learning environment.
- Help students develop confidence, independence, and a growth mindset.
- Celebrate student achievements and milestones.
- Make learning enjoyable while maintaining high academic expectations.
Qualifications
We're looking for educators who have:
- A Bachelor's degree (Education or a related field preferred).
- Alberta teaching certification (current or expired) is considered an asset.
- Teaching, tutoring, or classroom experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfort using computers, tablets, and educational technology.
- A passion for helping students succeed.
Schedule
This is a flexible permanent part-time position.
Availability for after-school hours, evenings, and Saturdays is preferred. We understand that candidates may not be available for every shift and encourage qualified applicants to apply.
