Overview
We are seeking a skilled Parts Coordinator to join our team. The Parts Coordinator will oversee the procurement, inventory management, and distribution of parts for our organization. This role requires expertise in systems management, negotiation, and supply chain operations.
Responsibilities
· Procurement of machine components & tooling
· Place purchase orders ensuring flow of inventory that guarantees optimum stock levels and meets production or maintenance schedules
· Issue requisitions and purchase orders
· Maintain an Open Purchase Order file with all purchase orders awaiting receipt of goods
· Maintain communications with suppliers regarding pricing, delivery, specifications, etc.
· Advise departments of lead times required to obtain required parts or tooling
· Make alternate arrangements in the event of shortages or delayed deliveries to minimize impact on the organization
· Negotiate prices with suppliers
· Receive all incoming goods verifying quantities received against quantities shipped on packing slips
· Conform to policy on the special ordering of parts
· Contact suppliers to resolve problems
· Manage inventory and work to meet production and maintenance needs
· Implement “Pull” systems and other “Lean” initiatives
· Coordinate a prompt, efficient, and timely flow of paperwork
· Assist in conducting physical inventory counts when needed
· Backup ink coordinator for vacation coverage
Requirements
· Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
· Experience in a maintenance purchasing or support role with a strong mechanical aptitude a must
· Experience in manufacturing environment with packaging, paper converting, or printing industry preferred
· Mathematical skills with ability to learn tooling layout and design for ordering purposes
· Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and parts books
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
· Intermediate computer skills required in MSOffice
· Dynamics AX, AS400 or Syntax software experience an asset
· Familiarity with ERP & CMMS software is a plus
· Must have excellent organizational skills for fast paced environment
· Detail oriented to ensure accuracy of work
· Ability to multi-task, follow-up, and meet tight timelines
· Excellent interpersonal skills to develop working relationships with external vendors and internal staff
