Job Summary
BAT Construction is growing, and we're looking for an experienced General Superintendent to join our team in Kamloops.
BAT specializes in slope stabilization and geotechnical construction, working on challenging projects throughout Western Canada. No two projects are exactly the same, and we rely on experienced people who know the work, work safely, and know how to find solutions when things don't go as planned.
As a General Superintendent, you will play a key role in supporting and overseeing multiple crews and projects. You will work closely with our Operations Manager, Project Managers, Foremen, and field crews to help ensure projects are properly planned, equipped, staffed, and executed.
What We're Looking For
The right person for this position doesn't necessarily need to know everything, but they need to be someone who can figure things out.
We are looking for an experienced construction leader who can walk onto a project, understand what is happening, identify what is needed, and help the team find a solution.
You should be comfortable working with multiple crews, shifting priorities, tight schedules, equipment challenges, and changing site conditions. Most importantly, you should be someone our Foremen and crews can rely on when they need support.
This is a hands-on leadership position. We are looking for someone who is dependable, organized, adaptable, and comfortable making decisions in challenging field environments.
Experience in geotechnical construction, drilling, slope stabilization, micropiles, rope access, or other related work is a must.
What You'll Be Doing
Supporting Crews & Projects
- Provide field support and leadership to multiple crews and projects.
- Visit active job sites and work directly with Foremen to identify and solve problems.
- Help coordinate manpower, equipment, and resources between projects as priorities change.
- Support Foremen with production planning and short-term scheduling.
Planning & Mobilization
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, and manpower requirements.
- Help with gear-up and mobilization, making sure crews have the equipment, materials, and tooling they need before leaving for site.
- Review drawings, specifications, and work plans to identify potential issues before work begins.
- Help plan upcoming work and identify equipment or material requirements early.
Problem Solving
- Troubleshoot equipment, manpower, production, and site-related issues.
- Work with Foremen, Project Managers, suppliers, and clients to find practical solutions.
- Step in where needed to help keep projects moving when unexpected issues arise.
Communication & Project Support
- Maintain regular communication with Operations, Project Managers, Foremen, and field crews.
- Monitor project progress and help identify potential scheduling or production issues.
- Assist with quality control, safety requirements, site documentation, and company procedures.
- Help maintain consistent standards and procedures across BAT's projects and crews.
- Utilize construction management software and other digital tools as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience as a Superintendent, General Superintendent, Foreman, or senior construction supervisor.
- Experience managing or supporting multiple crews or projects is preferred.
- Strong background in geotechnical, drilling, slope stabilization, heavy civil, or related construction.
- Experience with drilling and/or micropile construction is an asset.
- Experience with rock stabilization, rope access, anchors, grouting, or similar work is an asset.
- Strong ability to read and understand construction drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and make practical decisions in the field.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Comfortable working with Foremen and crews while also communicating with Project Managers and senior management.
- Experience with construction management software is an asset.
- Valid driver's licence.
- Comfortable travelling between multiple project sites and working rotational schedules.
Pay: CA$49.94/hour
Rotation: to be discussed
Work Arrangement: Kamloops local or remote work, depending on project requirements.
Union: CLAC
Benefits: Available after three months or the required accumulated hours.
