Enoch Civil Construction is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Class 1 Driver to join our team based out of our Acheson, Alberta office. This position is responsible for the safe transportation of heavy equipment, construction materials, and aggregate to project sites throughout Alberta. The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, excellent driving practices, strong communication skills, and a commitment to safety while working in a fast-paced construction environment.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the Class 1 Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of commercial hauling vehicles used to transport heavy equipment, aggregate, and construction materials between project locations. The successful candidate will possess extensive knowledge of provincial commercial transportation regulations, demonstrate excellent defensive driving skills, and maintain company vehicles and trailers to the highest standard. The ability to work independently while communicating effectively with dispatch and field personnel is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate Class 1 commercial trucks and trailers in accordance with all applicable legislation, company policies, and client requirements.
- Transport heavy equipment, aggregate, construction materials, and other project-related loads throughout Alberta.
- Complete pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers, and loads.
- Secure loads and ensure safe transportation practices are followed at all times.
- Report mechanical deficiencies, maintenance concerns, incidents, and unsafe conditions promptly.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, inspection reports, haul tickets, and other required documentation.
- Follow dispatch instructions and communicate effectively with supervisors and field personnel.
- Maintain clean, organized, and professional trucks and trailers.
- Participate in daily hazard assessments, safety meetings, and company safety initiatives.
- Assist with loading, unloading, yard duties, and other tasks as required.
- Perform all duties with a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and professionalism.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years of Class 1 commercial driving experience, preferably within heavy civil construction, earthworks, or the oilfield industry.
- Valid Alberta Class 1 Driver's License with a clean driver's abstract.
- Experience transporting heavy equipment, aggregate, or oversized loads is considered a strong asset.
- Thorough knowledge of commercial transportation regulations and load securement requirements.
- Demonstrated commitment to defensive driving and safe work practices.
- Ability to complete required inspections and maintain accurate documentation.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically capable of lifting, climbing, securing loads, and performing vehicle inspections.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to install tire chains when required.
- Must provide a current Driver's Abstract and Criminal Record Check upon request.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Test, including THC.
Required Safety Certifications
Applicants must possess current certifications for:
- Intermediate First Aid
- H2S Alive
- Ground Disturbance Level II (In-Class Version)
- CSTS 20 - Fundamentals
- WHMIS 2015

Working Conditions
- Based out of Acheson, Alberta.
- Travel throughout Alberta with overnight stays as required.
- Up to 12-hour shifts.
- Construction schedule with overtime and weekend work as required.
- Work performed in varying weather and site conditions.
Schedule: Up to 12 hours per day 7 Days a week
Pay: Competitive hourly wage based on experience and qualifications.
Expected hours: No more than 84 per week
