What Are We Looking For?
Our client is looking for an experienced and hands-on Sanitation Manager to lead and oversee sanitation operations within a food manufacturing facility. Reporting directly to the Food Safety Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring sanitation activities are completed efficiently, consistently, and in accordance with food safety, GMP, and Occupational Health & Safety standards.
What Will You Mainly Do?
- Conduct a thorough walk-through of the facility, including production and warehouse areas, to inspect cleanliness, identify potential issues, and ensure all sanitation tasks are being performed to standard.
- Review and verify the clock-ins and clock-outs of the sanitation team to ensure proper attendance and timely work commencement.
- Check the daily sanitation checklist, which covers all critical areas including production and warehouse zones.
- Ensure that all sanitation activities, including the cleaning of machines, equipment, and floors (both exterior and interior), are performed according to the established protocols and meet regulatory standards.
- Weekly sanitization of areas under the racks in the coolers, docks and cooling fans ensuring all debris and contaminants are removed to maintain a clean and safe storage environment.
- Monthly sanitation of the cooler area by taking out the skids one-by-one.
- Spend 70% of the time supporting the sanitation team on the production floor.
- Manage and oversee the work of 50 sanitation staff.
- Work with the maintenance team to develop and adhere to cleaning schedules that align with maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with the production team to schedule sanitation activities around production schedules.
- Partner with the quality assurance team to ensure that sanitation practices comply with food safety and hygiene standards.
- Determine staffing needs for sanitation activities, including scheduling shifts and allocating personnel to different areas based on priority and workload.
- Make decisions on the procurement and management of sanitation supplies and equipment.
- Ensure employees consistently wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Adhere to Occupational Health & Safety Act standards for safe work practices.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) regulations at all times.
Job Terms
- Job Type: Permanent Full-time
- Probationary Period: 3 months or 480 hours, whichever longer
- Work Location: Mississauga, ON
- Shift Requirement: main shift is Monday to Friday, starting at 10:00pm. Some Sundays may be required.
- Compensation: $70,000 per year
- Benefits: Group Benefits entitlement upon completion of probation time
What Do We Prefer?
- Have 5+ years of previous related experience
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- High School Diploma
- Knowledge in the food service industry, preferably the produce sector
