Position Overview
The Generator Parts Technician’s primary responsibility is to identify, source, and manage the parts and components needed to keep our generator service team running efficiently. This role requires a strong working knowledge of generator systems - including A/C and D/C electrical components and engine parts - to accurately identify, cross-reference, and stock the right parts for every job.
Job Responsibilities
· Identify and source the correct parts for generator technicians based on their job and repair needs.
· Maintain accurate inventory records and stock levels to ensure the right parts are always on hand.
· Review parts orders for completeness and accuracy, following up with clients and suppliers when required.
· Apply a good understanding of A/C and D/C electrical systems and engine components to correctly identify and cross-reference replacement parts.
· Communicate directly with clients, technicians, and suppliers to source parts and maintain trusting relationships.
· Take phone calls and inquiries from clients and technicians requesting parts.
· Understand order entry procedures as well as shipping and delivery policies and schedules.
· Update spreadsheets, databases, and inventory systems with accurate part numbers and statistical information.
· Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and parts manuals to identify correct components.
· Maintain cleanliness and organization of the parts department.
· Provide leadership, guidance, and training to other parts department staff.
· Assist in building parts sales by working with administration and business management.
· Bring forward ideas for growth strategy and help implement initiatives to grow the parts department.
· May be required to operate a vehicle during business hours to pick up or deliver parts; maintain a clean driving record.
· Be part of the ANSER safety team and work with administration to ensure company safety.
· Engage with customers and technicians in a courteous and professional manner.
· Participate in ongoing training related to OEM updates and industry best practices.
Requirements
· Good understanding of A/C and D/C electrical systems and related generator parts.
· Good understanding of engines and mechanical components used in generator sets.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for inventory management.
· Excellent communication skills for working with clients, technicians, and suppliers.
· Strong leadership and training abilities, with the confidence to guide and mentor team members.
· Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel spreadsheets.
· Demonstrates a strong work ethic and self-motivation.
· Able to work effectively independently as well as part of a team.
Qualifications and Experience
· Experience in a parts department, preferably generators, heavy equipment, or automotive, preferred.
· Electrical or Mechanical background/apprenticeship an asset.
· Experience with inventory management software/systems preferred.
· Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
