Fleury Comery Sookhoo LLP is seeking a full-time, in-person Legal Assistant/Law Clerk to join
our busy law firm located in the Highland Creek area (Old Kingston Road & Morrish Road) for one of the partners at the firm.
The successful candidate will support our firm in the areas of Wills & Estates, Probate, Estate Administration, Family Law, Corporate law, and Real Estate.
Qualifications & Experience
● Minimum 1+ years of experience as a Legal Assistant or Law Clerk
● Diploma in Legal Administration or a related legal studies program
● Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
● Demonstrated ability to draft legal documents accurately and efficiently
● Experience communicating directly with clients in a professional and empathetic manner
● Professionalism, discretion, and commitment to client confidentiality
● Experience with Clio, Unity, Closer or a comparable legal practice management platform is considered a significant asset
● Comfort and fluency with legal technology will be viewed favourably
● Knowledge of the Succession Law Reform Act, Family Law Rules, Ontario court forms, Ontario e-filing procedures, and/or the Rules of Civil Procedure and others, are not required but will be considered an asset
● Knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, Gmail and comparable legal practice softwares are considered a significant asset
● The ability to use technology, take instruction and complete drafting via dictation required
Responsibilities
● Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, affidavits, financial statements, and court documents for lawyer review and filing
● Manage court filings from start to finish, including motion records, case conference briefs, and e-filings through Ontario court systems
● Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, and court staff
● Manage financial disclosure processes, including organization, review, summaries, and identification of outstanding documentation
● Support lawyers in advancing active files from intake through resolution
● Track deadlines, maintain calendars and chronologies, and monitor file progression
● Draft correspondence, internal memoranda, and client communications as directed
● Maintain organized electronic files within the firm’s practice management system
● Assist with maintaining and updating firm precedents and templates
● Provide reception relief coverage and general administrative support as required
Position Details
● Full-time, in-person position
● Salary starting at $45,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
