Job Responsibilities:
This position reports to the Recreation Coordinator, Sixteen Mile Sport Complex and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of older adult programs. Responsibilities include:
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess a post secondary degree or diploma in Recreation and Leisure or a related field, along with a minimum of two years of front line experience delivering recreation programs in a community setting, preferably with Older Adults. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. This role requires strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with participants, volunteers, community partners, and internal staff. Experience supporting the growth of a new or expanding customer base through outreach, engagement, and promotion is an asset.
The ideal candidate will have experience assisting with the planning and delivery of programs and special events, as well as contributing to program development and continuous improvement. Experience supporting and coordinating volunteers—including recruitment, scheduling, training support, and the development of clear systems and processes to support volunteer engagement is highly desirable. Strong administrative skills and computer proficiency are essential, particularly with Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel, for tasks including registration, data tracking, record keeping, correspondence, and reporting. Knowledge of the physical abilities and needs of the older adult population, along with familiarity with community resources and services, is considered an asset. Access to a personal vehicle is required. Current Standard First Aid, CPR “C,” and AED Responder certification are mandatory.
