SNOLAB is Canada’s deep-underground science laboratory, located at a depth of 2 kilometers in Vale’s Creighton Mine near Sudbury, Ontario. The facility supports world-class astroparticle physics research and has attracted innovative life science and quantum technology programs. SNOLAB operates in a controlled, air-conditioned clean-room environment, supported by a suite of surface facilities and laboratories, supported by a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, skilled tradespeople, technical staff, and support staff.

The Position
The Computer Technologist will be responsible for establishing, operating, maintaining information technology systems throughout SNOLAB, both for SNOLAB and experiments. The succesful candidate will be expected to implement and manage computing infrastructure and applications on local and wide-area networks, computers, servers and other systems.
Successful IT Technologists at SNOLAB will:
- Administration, upgrading, maintenance and monitoring of company’s on-premise/cloud systems, and end user devices.
- Installation and configuration of physical and virtual servers and client PCs.
- Provide helpdesk support for IT related issues.
- Scope and execute projects; alone or as part of a team
- Collaborate with vendors and 3rd party consultants in support of the SNOLAB IT infrastructure
- Collaborate with experimenters to leverage the SNOLAB computing environment to further scientific research
- Account and security administration.
- Application management & support (Office 365, various line of business applications, web sites, wikis, databases, etc)
- Network administration/configuration (routers, switches, Wifi Access Points, firewalls, VPN, etc)
- Automation of routine/recurring tasks where possible.
- Create and maintain technical and end user documentation, procedures, and IT policies.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree/community college diploma in technology or computer science, and/or industry recongnized IT certifications and work experience.
- Experience with administration of Microsoft Windows, Active Directory, Hyper-V, Azure, Office 365 applications
- Experience using Linux, Mac OS, IOS, and Android is an asset.
- Experience with scripting and automation tools (including Powershell, VBScript) and web development and coding are desirable assets.
- Experience with networking (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VPN, VLANs and Wi-fi) in a Cisco environment.
Salary Range: $ 77,749 to $86,745 per annum
