Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Material Handler for a shutdown contract to support our industrial operations. This role involves managing the movement, loading, and unloading of materials and equipment within a warehouse or construction environment. The position requires experience with heavy equipment operation, warehouse management systems, and safety protocols. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, physically capable of heavy lifting, and familiar with various warehouse and construction tools. This is a vital role in ensuring efficient material flow during critical shutdown periods, supporting safety and productivity on-site.
Duties
- Load and unload materials using heavy equipment such as cranes, forklifts, clamp trucks, and order pickers
- Operate heavy machinery safely to move large or heavy items within the warehouse or construction site
- Assist with shipping and receiving processes, ensuring accurate documentation and inventory control
- Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment or internal use using warehouse management systems
- Support construction activities by handling supplies, tools, and equipment as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote safety and efficiency
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment and report any maintenance needs or safety hazards
- Follow all safety procedures related to heavy lifting, equipment operation, and site protocols
Skills
- Proven experience in warehouse distribution, shipping & receiving, or construction environments
- Mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment operation such as cranes, forklifts, clamp trucks, and order pickers
- Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) for inventory tracking and order processing
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently for extended periods
- Experience with load & unload procedures using various types of heavy machinery
- Strong understanding of safety standards related to warehouse operations and heavy equipment use
- Construction experience is a plus for understanding site-specific requirements
- Ability to operate heavy equipment including cranes, forklifts, order pickers, and clamp trucks confidently
- Good organizational skills with attention to detail in order picking and inventory management
Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
