About The Role
Shipwheel Cattle Feeders Ltd. is seeking a Feed Truck Driver / Operations Crew member to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a hands-on, dual-role position that combines daily feeding operations with general feedlot operations and yard upkeep. The role follows a 14-day rotation: 4 days on the feed truck, 6 days with the operations crew, followed by 4 days off. You will spend part of your rotation focused on ration preparation and feed delivery, and the balance supporting repairs, maintenance, yard work, and general operations across the yard.
Key Responsibilities
On feed truck days, you will be responsible for:
- Preparing, mixing, and delivering feed rations accurately and on schedule
- Operating feed truck, loader, and feed mill equipment safely and efficiently
- Monitoring bunks and cattle feeding behaviour to ensure proper intake
- Recording feeding data accurately using computerized feeding systems
- Tracking feed and commodity levels and reporting discrepancies or shortages
- Maintaining accurate logs for feed usage, deliveries, and inventory
On operations days, you will be responsible for:
- Performing general yard maintenance and operational upkeep tasks
- Prioritizing assigned daily tasks in coordination with the Operations Lead
- Assisting with feedlot repairs, fencing, water systems, and facility upkeep
- Supporting bedding, drainage management, irrigation, and snow removal
- Assisting with shipping, receiving, and processing cattle as required
- Operating tools, equipment, and machinery safely and responsibly
In both parts of the role, you will:
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and complete required logs
- Perform equipment cleaning, fueling, and routine maintenance or minor repairs
- Maintain clean and organized equipment and work areas
- Identify and report hazards, incidents, or unsafe conditions to the Operations Lead
- Contribute to a team-first environment, including cross-training and supporting other departments

Working Conditions
- Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions throughout the year
- Exposure to typical feedlot environments including dust, noise, odours, and changing weather conditions
- Physically demanding role requiring regular walking, standing, bending, lifting, and other manual tasks
- Driving and a valid Class 5 license is required
What We’re Looking For
- Previous hands-on experience with livestock (cattle, horses, or similar) is required
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (required)
- Previous labour, agricultural, construction, mechanical, or maintenance experience is an asset
- Experience operating feed trucks, loaders, or similar equipment in a feedlot or agricultural setting is an asset
- Mechanical aptitude and awareness of equipment maintenance needs
- Ability to work independently, manage daily priorities, and adapt as tasks change
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn
- Experience with computerized feeding systems is considered an asset
- Knowledge of bunk management and feed efficiency is an asset
