POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Facilities Maintenance staff play a vital role within Haliburton Forest with vast array of buildings, facilities and infrastructure requiring continuous maintenance, upkeep, and improvement. Facilities Maintenance staff work with the Operations manager on planning, coordinating of maintenance work, conducting maintenance tasks and undertaking construction projects when necessary and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for clients and staff.
The Facilities Maintenance worker is a multi-skilled self-motivated person with a focus on producing high quality workmanship in a timely fashion. Must have continuous drive to take projects from planning through to completion, always looking for improvements and seeking new efficiencies. A knowledge of all aspects of facilities maintenance is essential in the role, as is being a multi-skilled quick learner with a background and interest in facilities maintenance and construction projects. The ability to work efficiently between multiple projects in a variety of situations is essential.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Carry out all aspects of building and facilities repair & maintenance implementing cost reduction measures
- Address work orders as assigned
- Small plumbing, electrical & heating repairs
- Furniture and appliance installations
- Carry out building renovations and upgrades
- Undertake construction projects
- Project planning, pricing and sourcing materials
- Make estimates of time & materials for job or projects
- Seek economical and efficiency solutions wherever possible
- Conduct seasonal shut down and start-up of selected buildings
- Motivating and supervising a small team
- Liaise with Operations Manager on all property related maintenance and projects, maintenance schedules and servicing
- Liaise with the Office Manager and Guest Services staff on accommodations requirements
- Ensure safe operation of machinery and tools by self and crew
- Ensure maintenance & servicing of tools and equipment
- Responsible for upholding Health and safety
- Always uphold a high standard of customer communication
- Strive towards clear communications with all departments
- Performs all tasks in accordance with established safe work practices and standards, operating procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Secondary Responsibilities
- Work with trails crew to maintain recreational trails when required
- Research & suggest sustainable and low environmental impact alternatives
- Pump gas if required
- Contribute to the general advancement and operations of Haliburton Forest Forest Experiences division
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge and experience in undertaking small – medium construction projects
- Carpentry skills are essential in this role
- Plumbing and small-scale electrical knowledge and experience would be an asset
- Property & facilities maintenance experience would be an asset
- Experience in using power tools safely
- Experience in using lawn & landscape equipment and maintaining small engines
- Time management skills and ability to plan out project timelines
- Ability to muti-task and work through multiple projects to meet deadlines
- Computer literate and ability to learn new software and applications
- Full clean G drivers’ licence
- Chainsaw training certification
- Work at Heights for construction certification
- Elevated work platform certification an asset
- Experience in using ATVs and snowmobiles
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team
- Physically fit
- Able to work in all weather conditions

- Self-motivated with strong organizational skills
- Flexibility to work overtime as required-some evenings/extended hours may be required.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- Permanent Full Time
- Compensation will be based on candidate skills and experience
- Hours of work are Tuesday to Friday, 8am – 5pm and alternating weekends.
