Position Overview
We are seeking a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented Law Clerk/Legal Assistant to join our team on a temporary full-time basis to provide maternity leave coverage.
The successful candidate will begin employment prior to August 7, 2026, to allow for training and a smooth transition before our current Law Clerk commences her maternity leave.
This is a temporary position for the duration of the maternity leave, with the possibility of extension based on the needs of the firm.
Responsibilities
- Draft legal correspondence, briefs, memoranda, and other legal documents.
- Prepare and organize legal files and supporting documentation.
- Schedule discoveries, mediations, examinations, and client appointments.
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, insurance adjusters, medical offices, and other third parties.
- Respond to client inquiries by telephone and email.
- Complete legal forms and enter information into insurance and other required documents.
- Prepare, receive, sort, and distribute incoming and outgoing correspondence.
- Arrange courier deliveries and maintain electronic and physical files.
- Perform scanning, photocopying, filing, faxing, and document management.
- Assist lawyers and paralegals with administrative and legal support.
- Perform other administrative duties as required.
Qualifications
- Law Clerk or Legal Assistant diploma or certificate.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience working in a legal office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and general office software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in personal injury, accident benefits, insurance claims, civil litigation, or immigration matters is considered an asset.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish is considered an asset, but is not required.
