Looking for a hands-on job where no two shifts are quite the same?
Church Memorial Park is looking for a reliable, hands-on person to join the team at the Eleanor Pew Morris Memorial Arena in Chester. This role is a mix of ice maintenance, facility operations, light maintenance, cleaning and working with the public.
Previous arena or ice-making experience is an asset, but we're willing to train the right person.
This is a seasonal, part-time position running mid-September through mid-March each year, with primarily evening and weekend shifts, approximately 20-30 hours per week.

This is a great position for someone who enjoys working with their hands, operating equipment, fixing things and having some independence in your work. You don't need to come from an arena background — experience in maintenance, construction, landscaping, recreation, equipment operation or similar hands-on work can all be relevant.
Duties
- Maintain and resurface the arena ice
- Operate the ice resurfacer and other arena equipment
- Help keep the arena clean, safe and ready for users
- Perform general facility and property maintenance
- Assist with minor equipment maintenance and repairs
- Complete routine facility inspections and operating logs
- Help with snow and ice removal when required
- Assist with events, rentals and facility setup
- Provide friendly assistance to arena users and the public
What we're looking for:
- Reliable and comfortable working independently
- Hands-on and mechanically inclined
- Comfortable working with equipment and performing physical tasks
- Friendly and professional when dealing with arena users
- Willing to learn ice maintenance and arena operations
- Able to work evenings and weekends
Nice to have, but not required:
- Previous arena, facility, maintenance or equipment-operation experience
- Ice-making or arena operations training
- Refrigeration Operator certification
- Experience operating an ice resurfacer
Don't have arena experience? That's okay. Training can be provided to the right candidate.
Requirements & Certifications:
- You are required to maintain a valid First Aid certificate (will cover course cost)
- You are required to have a valid WHMIS certificate (will cover course cost)
- You are required to obtain a Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Check, subsequent checks may be required upon request
- You are required to obtain a Child Abuse Register Check, subsequent checks may be required upon request
- Valid Driver’s License
Pay: $20.50-$22.50 per hour
