About the Job
Korex Canada is hiring a Project Engineer to work on the modifications to an existing powder bottle filling line and installation of a shrink sleeving machine. You will work directly with fabrication shops, equipment vendors, electrical contractors, and plant operations from scoping through commissioning. You will also provide technical support for existing detergent and chlorine tableting lines.
Key Responsibilities
Powder Bottling Line
- Manage the installation and startup of the modified filler and shrink sleeve equipment.
- Define electrical and controls requirements; liaise with controls engineers or contractors on panels, drives, and HMI.
- Execute FAT planning, installation, commissioning, and handover to operations including SOPs and maintenance documentation.
Other typical projects
- A variety of environmental noise reduction projects related to dust collection systems, pneumatic conveying systems.
- Powder processing and packaging line improvement projects
Project Management
- Develop and maintain project schedules.
- Coordinate across Production, Quality, and Maintenance to ensure designs meet operational and regulatory requirements.
- Produce and maintain as-built drawings, equipment files, spare parts lists, and project documentation.
Education and Experience
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering; P.Eng. designation or in progress is an asset.
- 3 to 7 years in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated ownership of capital projects from concept through commissioning.
- Hands-on experience with packaging or processing equipment: conveyors, fillers, or powder handling systems.
- Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent); ability to produce and review fabrication drawings.
- Working knowledge of electrical controls and PLC-based systems sufficient to define scope for contractors.
- Familiarity with combustible dust standards (NFPA 652/654) is a significant asset.
- Background in consumer goods, chemical, or food manufacturing is preferred.

- Project management skills: scheduling, budget tracking, contractor coordination, and milestone reporting.
- Self-directed; comfortable managing multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced plant environment.
- Clear communicator across production, quality, maintenance, and external vendors.
- Safety-first mindset with working knowledge of Ontario OHSA, machine guarding, and industrial safe work practices.
- Strong documentation habits: drawings, SOPs, equipment specs, and project reports.
