Cheakamus Centre is located in Brackendale BC, just located just North of Squamish and sits on a 165-ha ecological preserve primarily focused on experiential and indigenous education.
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Sous Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. In this pivotal role, you will assist the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring the delivery of exceptional food quality and service. Duties
- Support the Executive Chef in supervising kitchen staff, including cooks and food handlers, to maintain high standards of food preparation and presentation
- Assist in planning and executing menu items, ensuring consistency and quality across all dishes
- Oversee food handling procedures, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and proper sanitation practices
- Manage food preparation processes, including cooking, plating, and portion control to meet service standards
- Coordinate with front-of-house teams to ensure smooth serving operations and timely delivery of orders
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies to maintain optimal stock levels
- Lead by example in maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment that promotes safety and teamwork
Requirements
- Valid work permit required.
- Minimum of 5 years of total progressive cooking experience in professional high volume, or upscale kitchens.
- At least 2 years of proven supervising experience leading, training, and managing kitchen staff, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team.
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking techniques, and culinary arts
- Extensive food handling knowledge with a focus on safety and hygiene standards
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with staff and management
- Passion for hospitality, serving guests with enthusiasm and professionalism

Pay: $58,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
