Staff Plus is hiring an experienced Industrial Maintenance Mechanic for a full-time day-shift opportunity at a food manufacturing facility in Hamilton, Ontario.
You will troubleshoot, repair and maintain food production and packaging equipment to minimize downtime and keep operations running safely and efficiently. Previous maintenance experience in food manufacturing is strongly preferred.
A 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright licence is an asset but is not required.
Location: Hamilton, ON
Pay Rate: From $25.00 - $28.00 per hour, based on experience
Schedule: Full-time day shift, with start times scheduled between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
Occasional weekend availability and emergency maintenance call-ins may be required.
What You'll Do:
- Perform preventive maintenance, equipment inspections and emergency repairs.
- Troubleshoot and repair production machinery, packaging equipment, conveyors, boilers, pumps and facility systems.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and minor electrical equipment problems.
- Install, align, adjust and dismantle machinery and mechanical components.
- Read blueprints, equipment manuals, schematics and technical diagrams.
- Fabricate or modify parts using welding, machining or other trade skills when required.
- Complete maintenance logs, work orders and equipment service records.
- Follow GMPs, HACCP procedures, food safety requirements and health and safety standards.
Requirements
- A valid 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright licence or equivalent trade certification is preferred but not required.
- Three to five years of industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience.
- Food manufacturing maintenance experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience in another high-speed production or packaging environment may be considered.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and equipment-repair skills.
- Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic and basic electrical systems.
- Experience maintaining conveyors, pumps, boilers, packaging machinery or similar production equipment.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics and technical manuals.
- Understanding of GMPs, HACCP and food safety procedures.
- Welding and fabrication experience is an asset.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, climb and work at heights when required.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures, including freezers and hot production areas.
