Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Head Counselors to join our summer camp team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with children in a dynamic outdoor environment, fostering their growth, creativity, and social skills. Ideal candidates will have a passion for working with children and enjoy engaging in educational and recreational activities. Prior experience and certifications in teaching, child and youth work, or early childhood education is required. This position is perfect for individuals who are nurturing, responsible, and eager to make a positive impact on young campers’ lives.
NOTE: The work term for this contract can be either June 19 - July 27 or June 19 - August 17, 2026
What You’ll Do
- Live on-site and provide supervision and care for all campers in their cabin group
- Work with campers aged 6-18 with a range of diagnoses towards increased social independence
- Manage and monitor camper behaviors, provide social guidance, and assist in the development of their personal growth
- Lead, or assist in the leadership of activities throughout the daily activity schedule
- Engage in a positive staff team work environment
- Provide leadership, feedback and monitoring of two other staff directly.
- Communicate with Parents/guardians of campers in your care.
What You Bring
- Previous experience working with young people, people with additional needs, or work in a Camp setting
- Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills
- Ability to work in a residential camp environment and adapt to a fast-paced, community-focused setting
- Professional experience and certifications in education, childcare and support work.
Requirements
- Prior experience working with children in settings such as tutoring, teaching, or early childhood education
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage children in educational and recreational activities
- Patience, adaptability, and a positive attitude toward working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team dedicated to creating a safe and enjoyable environment for children
- Must have completed at least one year of College or University
- Clean police VSC
- Willingness to undergo background checks and adhere to all safety protocols and camp policies
Pay: $1,700.00-$2,200.00 per month
