Plant Manager

Our client is looking for a Plant Manager to provide overall leadership for a manufacturing operation in Kitchener, Ontario. This is a hands-on leadership role with responsibility for plant performance, people, manufacturing processes and the physical facility.
The Plant Manager will be accountable for performance across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People, while driving continuous improvement throughout the operation. Working closely with both plant and corporate resources, this individual will play a key role in building a safe, efficient and high-performing manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and direction for day-to-day plant operations, manufacturing processes and the facility
- Drive performance across safety, quality, delivery, cost and people objectives
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and other structured improvement methodologies
- Ensure manufacturing processes, products and quality systems are effectively managed, including SPC, SOPs and process specifications
- Maintain compliance with applicable employment, health and safety, accessibility, environmental and other regulatory requirements
- Lead, develop and support plant employees while fostering accountability, collaboration and a strong safety culture
- Manage plant budgets and costs, review financial and operational data, and support business cases and justification for capital or improvement projects
- Oversee and support the flow of raw materials and finished goods while working closely with logistics and customer service functions
- Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, R&D, Technical Services, Sales, Customer Service, Logistics and other internal and external stakeholders
- Support effective labour relations and employee relations within the facility
- Identify operational issues, establish priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Utilize ERP systems to support plant operations, planning and reporting
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or a related discipline
- 10+ years of progressive experience within manufacturing or plant operations
- Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing processes, quality systems and continuous improvement
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies
- Working knowledge of budgeting, cost control and operational financial performance
- Previous labour relations experience
- Strong understanding of health, safety, employment and environmental requirements within a manufacturing environment
- Experience working with ERP systems; SAP experience is considered an asset
- Strong leadership, communication, delegation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively across multiple functions and levels of an organization
Additional Details
This is an on-site position based in Kitchener, Ontario. Regular plant operating hours are Monday through Friday, approximately 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m with “On Call” 24 hours availability.
Travel of up to approximately 15% may be required to support other locations or attend meetings.
Pay: $110,000.00-$125,000.00 per year
