Summary
We are looking for a Trust Officer/Accounting Assistant to support the accounting department by handlign tasks such as processing invoices, managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, and assisting with financial reporting and other related tasks.
Responsibilities
Bookkeeping and Record Keeping:
· Maintain accurate financial records and manage a variety of accounts using both manual and computer-based bookkeeping systems.
· Record bank deposits, journal entries, reconcile accounts, and manage general ledgers.
· Posting invoices, receipts, and other expenses.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
· Process invoices, payments, and other accounts payable expenses.
· Manage accounts receivable, including issuing cheques and electronic payments to vendors.
Bank Reconciliation:
· Reconcile bank statements with accounting records to ensure accuracy.
Financial Reporting:
· Assist in preparing financial statements and reports.
· Generate reports as needed.
Trust Accounting (Law Firm Specific):
· Manage and reconcile trust accounts, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical requirements.
Other Administrative Tasks:
· Assist with payroll processing as needed.
· Prepare bank deposits.
· Maintain accurate filing systems.
· Provide general office support as needed.
Job Requirements
Education:
Post-secondary education or equivalent programs, with some training in accounting or a related field preferred but not required.
Experience:
Previous experience in accounting or bookkeeping, preferably in a law firm or similar professional environment.
Skills:
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero), Microsoft Excel, and other relevant software.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to work independently and work collaboratively as part of a team.
Familiarity with basic accounting principles and practices.
Knowledge of legal accounting practices and trust accounting procedures is an asset.
Pay: $50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
