At Stellar, we aim to build a studio where people actually want to work. We face production’s inevitable ups and downs as a supportive, truly connected team, prioritizing open communication over anyone working in isolation. We value honesty, creativity, and looking out for one another.
The Opportunity:
We are looking for an empathetic and highly organized HR Generalist to join our Human Resources department. If you have a passion for HR practices, recruitment, and creating a welcoming environment for artists, this is your chance to take your career to the next level.
You will work closely with our HR Manager, IT, Payroll, and Production Teams to support our crew. In this role, you will wear a few different hats. You will drive our recruitment cycle, support daily HR operations, and take on hands-on facility management tasks to ensure our Vancouver studio is a vibrant, safe, and fully equipped place to work when the team comes into the office.
Position Type: 1 Year Contract (with the possibility of extension)
Location: Hybrid (Vancouver Studio 2 days per week)
Reports to: HR Manager
Salary Range: $65,000 to $75,000 CAD
In this role, success looks like:
Recruitment and Onboarding
Full-cycle recruiting (your core, every week): Source, screen, coordinate, and interview across a range of roles. Build repeatable pipelines and a candidate experience we are proud of.
Onboarding and offboarding: Run smooth, consistent joining and exit processes so every new hire starts strong, and departures are handled respectfully.
Collaboration: Coordinate seamlessly with IT, Payroll, and Production Teams to ensure new hires are set up for success on day one.
Sourcing: Manage our applicant tracking system (JazzHR), advertise roles on social media, support reference checking, and attend recruiting events to keep up with staffing needs.
General HR and Employee Support
Employee relations and everyday support: Be the first, approachable point of contact for employee questions, and support managers with day-to-day people matters and coaching.
People operations: Keep records, time-off tracking, payroll coordination support, and HR information accurate and tidy in our HRIS (Payworks).
Compliance custodian: Own and maintain our HR policies, handbook, contracts, and records. Apply them consistently, keep everything audit-ready, and know when to bring in outside counsel or escalate to the HR Manager.
Performance and culture: Help run simple, fair review cycles (Performance and Probation) and support a positive, growth-oriented workplace.
Facilities and Studio Operations
Facilities Management: Respond to requests covering all aspects of our operations including electrical, plumbing, office and desks and workstations, storage systems, air conditioning, and related utilities.
Security & Access: Maintain the access card and alarm code system and assign credentials to new employees.
Inventory: Maintain facilities-related documentation, tools, and supplies, and proactively order materials as needed.
Safety: Work strictly in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act of British Columbia.
Studio Culture: Take ownership of our physical studio space during your 1 to 2 days in the office, ensuring the environment is welcoming and tidy. Partner with the Production Teams to plan and execute company events like holiday parties, team lunches, and client visits.
The Requirements
Must Haves:
Education: BA in HR Management, Business Administration, or a related Diploma or Certificate.
Experience: 3+ years of hands-on HR generalist experience (recruitment plus day-to-day HR, not solely one or the other), including full-cycle recruiting experience.
Compliance Knowledge: Working knowledge of Canadian employment standards and HR compliance, with the ability to apply and maintain policies and keep accurate records.
Core Skills: Strong organization, sound judgment, and discretion with confidential information. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to balance multiple tasks.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal English. You display integrity, professionalism, and strict confidentiality at all times.
Tools: Highly proficient with Google Suite.
Work Arrangement: This is a hybrid position, and you are expected to work from our Vancouver office 2 days per week.
Nice to Haves:
Hands-on experience with an HRIS (like Payworks) and an ATS (like JazzHR), as well as LinkedIn recruiting.
Experience in digital marketing or social media management.
