Director of Operations
Location: Saint John, New Brunswick (Relocation Assistance Available)
A growing heavy industrial services business is seeking an experienced Director of Operations to lead a large operational workforce, oversee multiple branches, and drive performance across a diverse portfolio of construction, equipment, and project-based services.
This is a high-impact leadership role for an operational leader who is equally comfortable in front of customers, leading managers, and driving commercial performance. The successful candidate will play a key role in the company's continued growth and will have a clear pathway toward a future General Manager position.
The Opportunity
Reporting to senior leadership, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and profitable delivery of operations across multiple locations. You'll lead branch managers and operational leaders, support major customer relationships, and ensure the business continues to scale while maintaining exceptional service standards.
This role is ideal for someone who has built their career within heavy equipment, construction services, industrial services, crane operations, civil contracting, equipment rental, or related sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to branch managers and operational leadership teams across multiple locations
- Champion a strong safety culture and ensure operational excellence across all activities
- Drive operational performance, workforce productivity, utilization, and profitability
- Own operational budgets and support overall P&L performance
- Develop and execute strategies that support continued business growth
- Build strong relationships with customers, project stakeholders, and key industry partners
- Lead workforce planning, recruitment, succession planning, and talent development initiatives
- Monitor operational KPIs and implement improvements that enhance efficiency and customer outcomes
- Partner closely with senior leadership to support long-term strategic objectives
What We're Looking For
- Significant leadership experience within heavy equipment, industrial services, construction, civil infrastructure, crane services, equipment rental, or related industries
- Experience leading large operational workforces through managers and supervisors
- Demonstrated success managing multiple sites, branches, projects, or business units
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including budget and P&L responsibility
- Proven ability to build customer relationships and represent the business externally
- Track record of improving operational performance while maintaining strong safety standards
- Strong leadership, coaching, and people-development capabilities
- Engineering, business, or related post-secondary education preferred

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00-$180,000.00 per year
