Job Summary:
As a Barista at A Kinder Cup, you’ll be at the heart of the customer experience, creating exceptional beverages, assisting with bakery selections, and helping maintain a warm, welcoming atmosphere. You’ll also have the chance to contribute ideas for seasonal drinks and delicious bakery pairings.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Customer Service Excellence:
- Welcome every guest with a genuine smile and a friendly greeting, setting the tone for a positive experience.
- Actively listen to customers to understand their preferences and dietary needs, offering personalized recommendations for drinks and food.
- Handle customer inquiries about menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods with confidence and enthusiasm.
- Respond graciously and professionally to feedback, whether it’s praise or constructive criticism, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Build rapport with regular customers, remembering their names and preferred orders to create a sense of belonging.
2. Beverage Craftsmanship:
- Prepare and serve a wide range of beverages, including espresso-based drinks, brewed coffee, teas, and seasonal specialties.
- Master the operation of espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment to ensure consistent, high-quality results.
- Monitor and adjust coffee grind and machine settings to maintain the perfect espresso extraction.
- Steam and texture milk to perfection, creating silky microfoam for lattes and cappuccinos.
- Practice advanced latte art techniques to enhance the visual appeal of beverages, delighting customers.
- Innovate and collaborate with the team to design new seasonal beverages that showcase creativity and align with customer preferences.
3. Bakery and Product Knowledge:
- Assist customers in selecting bakery items, such as pastries, cookies, and sandwiches, ensuring they complement their beverage choices.
- Stay informed about all menu items, including detailed knowledge of ingredients, preparation methods, and potential allergens.
- Ensure the bakery display is always stocked, visually appealing, and accurately labeled.
- Promote bakery specials and seasonal items to increase sales and customer interest.
4. Operations and Maintenance:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Restock ingredients, cups, napkins, and other supplies throughout the shift to ensure smooth operations.
- Clean and sanitize equipment, countertops, and seating areas regularly to uphold the café’s high standards of cleanliness.
- Perform daily opening and closing tasks, including cash handling, inventory checks, and equipment maintenance.
5. Team Collaboration:
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment by supporting colleagues during busy periods and sharing knowledge.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management, ensuring smooth coordination of tasks and responsibilities.
- Contribute ideas during team meetings to enhance operations, customer experience, and overall café culture.
- Be a mentor to new team members, helping them learn the ropes and develop their skills.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a barista or in a customer-facing food service role.
- Proven expertise in espresso machine operation and advanced coffee brewing techniques.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to build relationships and handle diverse personalities.
- Exceptional multitasking abilities, particularly during peak service hours.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality beverages and food.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and nonverbal, to engage with customers and team members.
- Basic math skills for accurately processing transactions and managing cash registers.
