Overview
We are seeking a skilled Copper Splicer to join our team, specializing in the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunication and network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess strong electrical experience and be proficient in various splicing techniques, including low voltage and fiber optics. This role offers an opportunity to work on complex projects involving telephony, WAN, and other communication systems, ensuring reliable connectivity for our clients. The position requires safety-conscious individuals with the ability to operate specialized equipment.
Duties
- Perform copper splicing for telecom networks, ensuring signal quality and continuity
- Install and repair copper and fibre cables (aerial, underground, buried)
- Dress, mount, and rack aerial and underground FOSCs and cables
- Test splices and circuits using approved testing equipment
- Read and interpret telecom design prints and update field documentation
- Work safely at heights (15–40 ft), in confined spaces, and near energized lines
- Operate splicing tools, power tools, bucket trucks, and company vehicles

- Aside from having attributes aligned with our core values, one essential “must-have” is your ability to travel. WP Telectronics has projects all over Canada. We need road warriors who can go where the projects are. A typical shift rotation is 21 days on, 10 days off.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience splicing copper in the telecommunications sector
- Ability to read blueprints and telecom design prints
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Clean criminal record check
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Willingness to work extended hours, including weekends when required
- Ability to climb poles using spurs and work from ladders and bucket trucks
- Willingness to travel across Canada
