Seeking the Next Rising-Star!
You are hard working with an unquenchable thirst for learning. You know that integrity is the only constant and that a strong team can accomplish more than a group of self-serving individuals. Most importantly, you want to build assets that work! That’s what we do and that’s what sets us apart from our competition: we partner with our clients and we build things that solve their needs. Under the mentorship of the Structural Engineering Lead, the results you will be responsible for include:
Responsibilities:
- Perform structural analysis and design of industrial facilities, including pipe racks, equipment supports, buildings, and foundations (shallow and deep).
- Develop structural models using software such as S-Frame or equivalent.
- Identify structural design issues (e.g., constructability, load paths, foundation constraints) and work with senior engineers to deliver practical solutions.
- Prepare engineering deliverables, including structural calculations, technical reports, specifications, and design markups.
- Support development of structural designs through all project phases.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, mechanical, piping, and electrical) for an integrated facility design.
- Develop engineering work packages including material take-offs, specifications, and construction deliverables.
- Review shop drawings, vendor packages, and respond to RFIs during fabrication and construction.
- Conduct site visits, field inspections, and construction support activities for brownfield and greenfield facilities.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications (CSA, NBC, project-specific specs).
- Participate in QA/QC processes, including independent design checks and calculation verification, aligned with engineering procedures.
- Prepare design sketches, markups, and redlines to support structural concepts and communicate intent from engineers.
- Support civil earthworks and infrastructure projects as required.
Education/Experience:
- Engineering degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Registered as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with APEGA (or eligible).
- 2 to 4 years of structural engineering experience (consulting preferred), supporting industrial, commercial, or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency with structural design and analysis software with S-Frame or equivalent.
- Experience in civil infrastructure projects (e.g., earthworks, utilities, or site grading) and/or geotechnical engineering is also considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience working in fast‑paced engineering environments, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage ambiguous or evolving design inputs.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a demonstrated desire to learn and grow within the structural engineering field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project), Autodesk Navisworks, and Bluebeam Revu is considered an asset.
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License.
