Position: Annual Giving Coordinator
Terms of Employment: Full-time, Permanent
Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000
Location: Calgary
Job Purpose
The Annual Giving Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating Unison's annual giving program to support the organization's mission of helping older adults live healthy, active, and connected lives. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Annual Giving Coordinator develops and executes fundraising campaigns, cultivates and stewards donors, manages donor data and reporting, and supports major gift, legacy giving, sponsorship, and donor recognition initiatives.
Working collaboratively with staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners, the Annual Giving Coordinator plays a key role in building a culture of philanthropy and increasing sustainable revenue to support Unison's programs and services, including active aging programs, food security initiatives, elder abuse prevention services, wellness programs, and community support services.
Key Responsibilities:
Annual Giving and Campaign Management
· Develop and implement of annual fundraising plans and campaigns to meet revenue goals.
· Identify workflow efficiencies and contributes to continuous process improvements across annual giving operations.
· Coordinate direct mail, email, online giving, year-end appeals, monthly giving, and special fundraising campaigns.
· Monitor campaign performance and recommend strategies to improve donor acquisition, retention, and revenue growth.
· Build out emails, donation forms and other digital assets as needed.
· Prepare campaign schedules, budgets, donor lists, and performance reports.
· Track fundraising metrics and prepare regular reports for leadership.
Donor Stewardship and Relationship Management
· Build and maintain meaningful relationships with donors through effective stewardship and engagement activities.
· Coordinate donor acknowledgement letters, recognition, and appreciation initiatives.
· Manage donor communications and ensure timely responses to donor inquiries.
· Support donor cultivation meetings and stewardship activities with leadership and volunteers.
Major Gifts and Legacy Giving Support
· Assist with the identification, cultivation, stewardship, and recognition of major gift donors.
· Support legacy giving initiatives by helping to promote planned giving opportunities and maintaining relationships with legacy donors and prospects.
· Prepare donor profiles, briefing notes, proposals, and stewardship reports as required.
Data Management and Reporting
· Extract data from Raisers Edge for all campaigns following the provided data segmentation.
· Maintain accurate donor records within Raiser's Edge and other fundraising systems.
· Generate donor reports, mailing lists, campaign reports, and fundraising analytics.
· Ensure donor information is managed confidentially and in compliance with privacy legislation.
Communications and Marketing Support
· Collaborate with the Marketing and Fund Development team to develop donor-focused communications and fundraising materials.
· Cooperate with the marketing team in preparing donor impact reports, newsletters, website content, social media content, and campaign materials.
· Collect and share stories that demonstrate the impact of donor support on older adults and the community.
· Ensure fundraising communications align with Unison's brand and messaging standards.
Events and Community Engagement
· Support fundraising events, donor appreciation activities, sponsorship events, and community engagement initiatives.
· Assist with event logistics, donor communications, registrations, recognition materials, and follow-up activities.
Qualifications:
Education
· Diploma or bachelor's degree in Fundraising, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
· CFRE designation or progress toward certification is considered an asset.
Experience
· Minimum two years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, philanthropy, or nonprofit development.
· Experience managing annual giving campaigns and donor stewardship programs.
· Experience working with donor management databases, preferably Raiser's Edge.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Strong understanding of fundraising principles, donor stewardship, and relationship management.
· Knowledge of CRA charitable receipting requirements and fundraising best practices.
· Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
· Strong organizational and project management abilities.
· Ability to analyze fundraising data and prepare meaningful reports.
· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
· High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
· Strong commitment to exceptional donor service and relationship building.
Technical Skills
· Raiser's Edge or equivalent donor management software.
· Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Working Conditions
· Primarily office-based with occasional evening and weekend work for events and donor activities.
· Occasional travel within Southern Alberta may be required.
· Ability to attend community and donor engagement events outside regular business hours when needed.
