Hynes Restaurant is excited to be opening our new Lower Sackville location in mid-July 2026. As a long-standing family restaurant known for quality home-cooked meals, all-day breakfast, seafood, and exceptional customer service, we are looking for experienced kitchen professionals to help launch and grow our newest location.
We are currently hiring experienced Line Cooks / Prep Cooks who are passionate about food, work well in a fast-paced environment, and take pride in producing high-quality meals consistently.
IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT
Previous experience working as a Line Cook in a restaurant is mandatory.
Applications from candidates without restaurant line cook experience will not be considered.
Position Overview
The Line Cook / Prep Cook will be responsible for preparing ingredients, cooking menu items according to company standards, maintaining food quality, and ensuring all food safety procedures are followed. Successful candidates must be able to handle busy breakfast, lunch, and dinner services while maintaining consistency and efficiency.
ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation
- Prepare vegetables, meats, seafood, soups, sauces, gravies, and other ingredients.
- Complete daily prep lists and ensure adequate stock levels for service.
- Follow recipes, portion control standards, and presentation guidelines.
- Properly label, date, and store food products.
- Rotate inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.
Line Cooking
- Prepare and cook menu items during breakfast, lunch, and dinner service.
- Operate grills, flat tops, fryers, ovens, steamers, and other kitchen equipment safely.
- Maintain speed and accuracy during high-volume periods.
- Ensure all food leaving the kitchen meets company quality standards.
- Communicate effectively with fellow cooks, servers, and management.
Kitchen Maintenance
- Keep workstations clean, organized, and fully stocked.
- Follow opening, closing, and cleaning procedures.
- Assist with receiving and putting away deliveries.
- Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment at all times.
- Help reduce food waste and control kitchen costs.
Food Safety
- Follow all food handling, sanitation, and health regulations.
- Monitor food temperatures and storage practices.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety policies.
- Report maintenance or safety concerns to management promptly.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of restaurant line cook experience required.
- Experience with breakfast cooking is considered a strong asset.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize during busy service periods.
- Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
Availability Requirements
Candidates should be available to work a variety of shifts, including:
- Early mornings
- Days
- Evenings
- Weekends
- Holidays
Flexible availability is considered a strong asset.
