SUMMARY
The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for hotel guests, team members, visitors, and hotel property. This role requires strong observation skills, professionalism, and a commitment to delivering exceptional guest service while ensuring compliance with hotel safety and security standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Patrol hotel property, guest floors, parking areas, entrances, and surrounding premises regularly.
- Monitor surveillance systems, security alarms, and access control systems.
- Respond promptly and professionally to emergencies, incidents, guest concerns, and disturbances.
- Ensure the safety and security of guests, staff, contractors, and visitors at all times.
- Provide professional and courteous guest assistance when required.
- Conduct investigations into incidents, accidents, thefts, and suspicious activities.
- Complete detailed and accurate incident, accident, and daily activity reports.
- Enforce hotel policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Assist with fire alarms, emergency evacuations, and first aid situations when necessary.
- Monitor unauthorized access and secure restricted areas.
- Coordinate with local law enforcement, emergency services, and hotel management when required.
- Ensure all safety equipment and emergency systems are functioning properly and report deficiencies immediately.
- Support other hotel departments in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Items listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform all duties and responsibilities:
- Previous hotel security, hospitality security, or related security experience preferred.
- Valid provincial/state Security License required.
- First Aid/CPR certification considered an asset.
- Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overnight shifts.
- Knowledge of hotel operations and emergency procedures considered an asset.
MOBILITY
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to patrol indoor and outdoor areas in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, push, or carry up to 50 lbs when necessary.
COMMUNICATION
- Ability to communicate effectively (both verbal and written) with guests, clients, emergency personnel, and co-workers.
- Must read, write, and speak the English language fluently.
- Strong report-writing and documentation skills required.
