We are searching for a safety-conscious and driven Shear Operator with experience using mobile shears to work in our Fort St John facility! This is a full-time, permanent, non-union position, operating an excavator with bucket and thumb attachments (mobile shears).
Schedule: Monday to Friday from 7:30am – 4:30pm
Compensation:
- $30/hr to $36/hr based on experience
- Monthly, uncapped profit-sharing
- RRSP matching up to $4K a year

Responsibilities:
- Prepares materials to meet customer requirements using bucket and thumb attachments such as Labounty shears on a Cat 336 excavator
- Moves materials by loading and unloading them into bins, dumps, trailers, and railcars
- Identifies potential hazards and takes action to maintain safety and protect the environment
- Carries out light maintenance duties, including lubrication and adjustment of blades and components
- Contributes to the planning and design of operational processes
- Supports the evaluation of workflow improvements and helps develop practical solutions
- Builds knowledge of industry standards and assists with applying best practices
- Works independently and takes responsibility when operating off-site
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment, including mobile shears, excavators, material handlers, and wheel loaders, is preferred
- Hands-on experience using bucket and thumb attachments is required
- Strong mechanical understanding with good hand-eye coordination
- Effective communication and customer service skills
- Committed to maintaining safe work practices
- Flexibility with work shifts and ability to travel occasionally
- Ability to pass regular random drug and alcohol screenings
