The River Café Restaurant Group is seeking an accomplished General Manager to lead restaurant operations. The successful candidate must be a proven leader in Fine Dining who has an exemplary track record of recruiting and retaining a talented team, has strong leadership and interpersonal skills, a solid work ethic, good business acumen and a gift for hospitality. You will lead by example and inspire every member of the staff to perform to the highest standards.
The ideal candidate shares our passion for food and beverage, has a thorough knowledge of wine and flair for innovative cocktail service. He or She will also have demonstrable administrative skills, be experienced in delivering on budgets and reporting, and is exceptionally well organized.

Responsibilities
- Hire, train and mentor an exceptional team of service professionals
- Set and refine service standards
- Uphold company code of conduct and policies
- Provide ongoing development and inspiration to the team to consistently improve their product knowledge and conduct regular performance reviews
- Take appropriate corrective action when required and keep formal records of all disciplinary action
- Enjoy playing Host to guests and personally oversee service at peak times including weekends and holidays
- Ensure smooth operations at all times and effective, efficient management of restaurant resources including staffing, products and equipment
- Ensure all staff are adequately informed of all promotions, events and other restaurant business through regular and effective internal communications
- Deal gracefully and professionally with complaints and concerns of guests and staff alike in writing and/or in person as is appropriate
- Advance the financial goals of the restaurant by promoting sales and controlling costs while delivering exceptional quality product and service
- Adhere to annual labour, smallwares, wine, beer, and liquor budgets
- Ensure proper maintenance and security of the restaurant, surrounding property and equipment
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years experience in a management role in a fine dining, fast-paced hospitality environment
- Post secondary diploma or degree in Business or Hospitality an asset
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, someone who listens as well as he or she speaks
- Proven success as a leader who motivates their staff to perform at the highest standards while also being a team-player
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize administrative projects and deliverables
- Extensive wine knowledge, preferably certified as Sommelier or with a WSET diploma
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Experience with restaurant software - Squirrel, TOCK, Tripleseat, Affinity Design
- Event management an asset
