At Bay Point Contracting, we are an established and growing renovation contracting company specializing in residential projects. We believe in doing things right-building trust with our clients, maintaining high standards, and creating a team that supports each other. We do not just renovate spaces-we provide certainty, build strong relationships, and create great careers.
This role is an opportunity to continue building yours.
Bay Point Contracting is seeking a motivated and developing Apprentice Renovation Carpenter to support our team across residential renovation projects.
Although carpentry is an important part of the position, this is not a carpenter-only role. Renovation work requires adaptability and the ability to contribute across multiple phases of a project, including rough and finish carpentry, drywall, taping, concrete work, demolition, installation, material handling, and general construction activities.
The right person will already have a foundation of construction and renovation experience but will remain eager to learn, improve, and take on increasingly complex responsibilities.
You will report to the Site Lead and work alongside experienced renovation professionals, project managers, and site leads while continuing to develop the technical knowledge, judgment, and workmanship required to progress into a skilled renovation position.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Work on varied residential renovation projects.
- Expand your rough and finish carpentry abilities.
- Develop broader skills across multiple renovation trades.
- Learn directly from experienced renovation professionals.
- Improve your ability to read plans, take measurements, and complete installations.
- Take on increasing responsibility as your skills and judgment develop.
- Contribute ideas that improve quality, productivity, safety, and customer service.
- Progress toward becoming a fully skilled renovation professional.
If you enjoy solving practical problems, developing your trade skills, and contributing to projects from one phase to the next, this could be an excellent fit.
- Receive instructions and complete assigned work with accuracy and efficiency.
- Perform hands-on construction and renovation tasks throughout different project phases.
- Assist with rough and finish carpentry, drywall, taping, concrete work, demolition, installation, and other renovation activities.
- Read and apply basic information from blueprints, plans, specifications, and measurements.
- Safely operate saws, drills, levels, measuring instruments, and other hand and power tools.
- Transport, organize, and properly store construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized project sites.
- Perform end-of-day cleanup and eliminate potential hazards.
- Ensure tools and equipment are properly maintained, organized, and secured.
- Follow company policies, safety procedures, legal requirements, and project-specific instructions.
- Participate in safety checks and report unsafe conditions or damaged equipment.
- Wear the appropriate personal protective equipment for each site and task.
- Work closely with project managers, site leads, tradespeople, and other team members.
- Provide assistance wherever needed to help projects remain on schedule.
- Communicate clearly, ask appropriate questions, and report project progress or concerns.
- Offer practical input that may improve productivity, quality, construction systems, or customer service.
- Direct potential leads for new work to Bay Point Contracting's sales team.
- Participate in company training, third-party education, and on-the-job learning.
- Represent Bay Point Contracting professionally and help create an excellent customer experience.
- Approximately three years of construction and renovation experience involving residential or commercial projects.
- Working knowledge of rough and finish carpentry.
- Familiarity with drywall, taping, concrete work, and other common renovation activities.
- Proficiency with a range of hand and power tools.
- Basic ability to read construction drawings, blueprints, and plans.
- Ability to take accurate measurements, calculate dimensions, and apply construction-related mathematics.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to follow instructions while also developing independent problem-solving skills.
- Strong safety awareness and consistent adherence to safety protocols.
- Reliable attendance, punctuality, and follow-through.
- Ability to adapt to changing project conditions, priorities, and assignments.
- Good listening and communication skills.
- Willingness to accept feedback, improve skills, and take initiative.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a renovation team.
- Willingness to work indoors and outdoors throughout the seasons and in varying weather conditions.
- Valid G driver's licence.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of or participation in a recognized trade apprenticeship program is an asset.
- Approximately three years of construction and renovation experience.
- Ability to safely lift and carry objects weighing up to 70 pounds for approximately 150 feet.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Bay Point Contracting offers competitive compensation based on experience, demonstrated trade ability, and overall fit for the position.
We are looking for someone who values continuous improvement, reliability, safety, teamwork, quality, and professional growth.
- Full-time employment.
- Continued training and opportunities to expand your renovation skills.
- Exposure to multiple construction disciplines and project phases.
- Direct experience working with skilled renovation professionals.
- Increasing responsibility as your capabilities grow.
